Kibart is providing engineering services for a multi-phased systemic renovation at the Federal Correctional Institution located in Cumberland, Maryland. This medium security campus was built in 1991 and is operated by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the U.S. Department of Justice, consisting of multiple buildings, including Housing Units, Administration, Health Service, Laundry, Food Service, Central Plant, Recreational and Warehouse, and housing 1,286 male inmates.

Engineering services include:

  • Decentralizing the heating system
  • Decommissioning the central boiler plant
  • Providing new standalone boilers and water heaters in each building
  • New campus underground gas distribution system to supply new boilers and water heaters
  • Chiller plant upgrades
  • Control valves replacement campus wide
  • Replacement of cooling towers
  • Kitchen refrigeration system upgrade
  • Control system upgrades
