Our independent commissioning department gives clients a higher level of objectivity. For example, our protocols and standards are the same for any project, whether it is a system that we designed or a system we are commissioning as a third party.
Another difference: Our commissioning engineers perform the tests; we don’t watch someone else perform the tests. We can quickly spot a mistake or a short cut, and we know how to hold a sub-contractor accountable when we find something that doesn’t comply.
We remain available for continuous commissioning services—tracking, monitoring and making recommendations when needed. We also perform retro commissioning, where we can test an existing system to assess if it is operating as designed or to determine if it is operating appropriately based on a new use or occupancy.
Kibart is fully certified by the Building Commissioning Association (BCxA) and the AABC Commissioning Group (ACG), and is LEED accredited. About three-fourths of our commissioning jobs are performed with LEED certification as the client’s goal. Our proficiency is in finding the LEED credits with the most value and benefit for the MEP systems overall, while avoiding over-design and unnecessary expense.
